You're seeing young people now. If I had to estimate how much of each day young people in America today are living, I would probably guesstimate something like 20 percent: the scrolling, the time spent on random stupidity, chasing the Joneses instead of improving their lives. And by the way, I'm not even defining how to improve your life. All I'm saying is, it ain't happening by scrolling on TikTok. We're throwing it away.

And it is a truism of humanity that when people are at the end of their life, they beg and cry and plead, and they'll have any surgery, fly anywhere, and spend any money to get an extra week, an extra month, an extra year. You want an extra year? I got loads for you. Control your social media scrolling, and you will have added years to your life—not even just the years that will come because you're exercising more or are in a more positive state of mind, but even just from the wasted amount of time: the average amount of time a young person is spending on their phones today.

And by the way, when I say young people, I'm sorry. I don't only mean 18-year-olds. We're scrolling through AI slop. We're scrolling through articles that don't matter to us. We're scrolling through stupidity. That time is the same time in the middle of your life as it is at the end of your life. Do you know how many years we could claw back?

So I have a challenge for you. In the parasha of Chayei Sarah (Life of Sarah), there is a story about a woman who uses every year of her life positively. I want you to decide this coming week. If you can't do it this week, do it next week. Take one week and decide at the beginning of each day what you're going to do with your time that day, and anything you didn't decide to do with your time, you don't do. On Monday, you can adjust for Sunday. On Tuesday, you can adjust for Sunday and Monday. But try to live one week of your life intentionally, proactively. I promise you that one week will change your life forever.
